Four Seasons Private Residences
The former West Heating Plant at 1051-1055 29th NW in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington DC is located directly behind the Four Seasons Hotel. The property is slated for 80 ultra-luxury condominiums managed by the Four Seasons Hotel. The group purchased the property for $19.5M in 2013 and plan to construct 80 luxury Four Seasons Private Residences on the site.
The proposed project transforms the West Heating Plant, a vacant steam heat facility on a blighted site into a Four Seasons-managed luxury condominium with an adjacent one-acre public park and bridge connecting Rock Creek Park with the Georgetown Waterfront. The project also includes a bridge providing a direct pedestrian and bicycle connection between Rock Creek Park, the Georgetown Waterfront Park, and the Crescent Trail as well as access to the waterfront and the refurbishment of the dilapidated seawall along Rock Creek.
Although the property is not designated historic, developers must conform to the area’s comprehensive plan for the area and historic preservation measures affecting the site itself. Approval by Commission of Fine Arts will be required. Developers tweaked the design this month to better conform to the specifications of the Commission and the comprehensive plan.
